Types of Commuters in Delhi metro

A variety of people travel by the Delhi metro daily for different purposes, some might be rushing for work while others might be heading for a party. If you are new to Delhi metro, then be prepared to see the following types of people.

The proactive ones
The proactive ones seem to have a way with the metro. They are experts at grabbing seats by hook or crook. Right from faking some illness to racing with a co-passenger, they do everything possible in their capacity to get a seat. In fact with experience they are able to read the minds of other co-passengers enough to determine the station they will get off and accordingly decide their target.
It is super easy to identify the proactive metro travellers as they are always eyeing the seats!

The sacrificing ones
The sacrificing ones are generous, caring and respectful. They don't mind giving up their seats for someone who needs it more. As soon as they see any elderly citizen, without any second thought they will offer their seat to them. Often the men folk lend their seat to the female passengers.  People who fall in this category are the most loved passengers in the metro.
All hail the sacrificing ones!

The noisy ones
Well, these are rather interesting ones. They will make your mundane ride pretty exciting. Their loud voices can be heard across several coaches. By just listening to their voice you will know everything going in  their life. Since people normally don't have much to do in the metro, they find such characters entertaining.
There life is literally an open book!

The groomers
The groomers don't leave any chance to fix their make up or hair. Well, metro is full of such people. You can always spot someone combing their hair or applying lipstick or kajal without even smudging it. They are such experts that they don't even need a mirror for all this.

The smart ones
They know how to make most of each and every moment. Rather than wasting their time in the metro by sitting idle, they engage themselves into something that will add to their knowledge. They will be spotted reading the paper, a novel or maybe course books.
They make each and every moment count!

The intruders
These are the most irritating and frustrating type. They will always peep into your phones, laptops, newspaper or novels making it uncomfortable for us to chat or read. It feels like somebody is spying you. Thus, it is quintessential that you don't sit next to them.

The adjusting ones
Well, they are the most accommodating and adjusting passengers. They will always shift, compress and make some space for you to sit. They wouldn't complaint even if there is a baby sitting next to them who is constantly playing with their bag or any other belonging. They are simple, sweet and friendly.

The rule breakers
The Delhi metro clearly and repeatedly announces that no eating, drinking or sitting on the floor of the metro is allowed. However, most of the travellers turn a deaf ear to it. It is very convenient for the passengers to sit on the floor in case the seats are occupied. Also, most people have their breakfast in the metro only. Even rules can't stop Dilliwalas.
The Dilliwalas do what they want to do!
